Read Aloud: Colorful World--By: CeCe Winans

I read aloud a book called Colorful World. This story is based off of lyrics of a song by CeCe Winans. The book has a cd that goes along with it. I felt this book sent out a great message. I feel that we are all unique, with our own talents and abilities. When children figure out that it is not a bad thing to be different, then they will feel free to be themselves. We do live in a very diverse world and that is a wonderful thing. The world would be boring if we were all the same. It truly is a colorful world that we live in, a beatuiful world that we live in.

hey girl- i really enjoyed your read aloud! i recognized the words in the book from the song, and i thought it was really clever to turn that beautiful song into a childrens book. that book could definitely be a jumping off point for lessons on individuality and uniquness. great pick!

I loved the artwork especially. It supported the theme of the beauty of individual differences, but at once our similarities.

Alicia,

I really liked this book when you read it in class. If everyone could read it, we could make strides for a better world. The themes of diversity and the understanding of differences between people are ultimate topics we should all come to terms on.
